Dear Students,
Please see the information below from Monroe College on scholarships to study at their campus in New Rochelle, New York:
Dear Mrs. Ribeiro-Bailey:
Greetings from Monroe College! I hope you had a safe and happy holiday and all the best for the New Year! As we move into 2012, Monroe is continuing its dedication to helping students achieve their goals in life. With that said, starting on January 15th, the committee will begin reviewing students for academic scholarship consideration for the Fall (September) 2012 semester. The first rounds of reviews for the scholarships will take place between January 15th – January 31st.
Applicants are strongly advised to complete the application process for January 31st in order to be in the first rounds of consideration. Usually this is when the best scholarships are awarded.
We here at Monroe know you too are dedicated to assisting your students as they move on to a higher level of education. To this end, we are asking for your recommendations on students that will be a good fit for Monroe College and also have sufficient support both emotionally and financially from their parents or guardians in order to qualify for a student visa.
Scholarships are limited and are awarded to the most qualified candidates on a “first come, first served” basis. In order to be reviewed for acceptance and scholarship consideration, each candidate will have to submit the following:
- Completed Online Applcation: they can access the application by visiting www.monroecollege.edu
- Admissions Essay: In no less than 350 words, please describe the personal growth you hope to gain from studying at Monroe College.
- Copy of AAS/BBA degree transcript
- High School Transcript: a copy can be faxed while the original is sent via mail
- Copy of CXC O’Levels and/or CAPE A’Level results
- Copy of High School leaving Certificate.
- 2 letters of recommendation: 1 recommendation is required from the Principal/ Dean or Guidance Counselor
- Financial Sponsor Information: Name of the person who will be financially responsible for the student should he or she decide to study in the US. This information is needed to properly assist the student through the student visa process.
Please indicate your interest in applying for the scholarships by way of an email to me, Mrs. Bailey, by February 10th, 2012. Please make every effort to meet this deadline as we have a deadline to submit the required documents to Monroe, which they so kindly extended just for us.
Please note that indicating interest does not automatically mean you will receive the scholarship - you will be pre-screened by TTHTI and then if you make the short list submitted to Monroe College, they will also conduct their own selection process.
Several TTHTI students over the years have been able to attend Monroe upon graduating due to these scholarships, so I would encourage you to explore this opportunity.
Mrs. Bailey
